I was born here in los angles but my parents are from mexico. So you can say im a chicana. Im tall wich i got it from my mom side. I like to hang out with friends and family.

I would describe South Central today as being creative and unique.Another way i can describe South Central would be by having many positive and negative behaviors.Some ways South Central is positive, and making it what it is today is that, every body is different.That their not all the same,since there are many diverse people and groups;then they’re just part of what makes South Central.There are many different things,we can learn from and even meeting new people.Some ways South Central can be a negative would be the type of behaviors that are being brought out.Also by the different problems going on.Like more gangs being formed,making sure we don’t get caught in the violence that’s happening,and even the drugs that are being sold.The thing that shocks me is that there are many kids who are starting too take on drugs at a young age.Evenuatlly there are many major reasons on why South Central is what it is today.The three most important events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central LA what is today are The Crack Epidemic,Gang History, and La Riots.
The first event that has made South Central what is today would be The Crack Epidemic.This is an important event because crack/cocaine is a drug many people use today;And to think that the government were like the first to introduce this drug to people and bringing it to South Central.Crack is a form of the drug cocaine.It is one on the most highest additive and destructive drug in the world.During the early of the 1980’s this drug first came into use in South Central,LA.The Crack Epidemic started off with the country of Nicaragua and the US.The US started to give money to some Nicaraguans to fight the communist Sandinistas,starting a civil war in Nicaragua.Since the US was being led by Ronal Regan he thought of a solution.Which was to sell crack cocaine in the ghettos of the Us, and use the money to supply weapons for the fight against the communist Sandinistas.The CIA also took a role in this event.This drug is so powerful that it even led to families being broken up.Freeway Ricky Ross was the man who spread the drugs all over California. Which led to poverty and despair.
The second event that made South Central what it is today would be Gang History.Today, they are bigger and more dangerous.Their orgins come in lack of eduaction,provert,&racism.Many of the Latinos and Black gangs in Los Angeles originally came as repsone to white racism.Gang History Started off in the 1940s.At the times,Blacks and Latinos were restricted in where they could live.Blacks had to live along Central Ave.and Latinos lived mostly in East LA and Watts.Huntington Park,Bell,South Gate,Inglewood,and other cities all had organized white gangs that would seek out Blacks and Latinos and harras them or beat them up.The largest of these gangs were the Spooks Hunters.Also durinig the 1940s, the Ku Klux Klan also emerged in LA.During the 1960s was also time of the Civil Rights Movement.Many gang members joined organizations such as the Black Panther Party and the Brown Berets.These groups wanted the Black and Brown communities to control businesses,employment,education,and he media in thier area instead of having these things controlled by rich white people and oranizations.They also wanted to act as a community army and organized people against police brutality and racism.Some memebers of these gangs were straight outright assassinated by the government.The government called this the COunterINTELligencePROgram.(COINTELPRO for short).1980s saw huge increase in gangs.The ideas of the Black Panther Party and Brown Berrets were completely lost.The gangs were exclusively focused on territory and crime.1990s the influence of gangs spiraled out of control with the introduction of drugs tot he community,the early 1990s saw some of the highest homicide rates ever.2000&beyond many gang members have found themselves in jail due to a huge police focus on reducing the crime rate.For many peolpe, gangs fill some sence of family or belonging that was missing in thier life,however,it has a price.They have torn apart the part of the communities rather than build unity.
Finally, the third event that has made south central what it is today would be the LA Riots.The LA riots occurred in 1992.This occurred because of Rodney King was being severely beaten by four white police officers.The police officers who brutality beat Rodney King were supposedly ‘Not Guilty’.What eles took role in part of the LA Riots of the fact that Du didn’t get a fair verdict when she shot Latasha Harlins in the back of the head.Almost immediately after the verdict was announced the riots started.The LA Riots lasted in tottal of 5 days.In those 5 days 53 people were killed.Over $1 billion in damages were done.People also rioted because of the built up anger and frustration.The riots were not just collection of random acts.People were speaking out against oppression;against being held down for so long.The only ay they were finally heard was through the extreme acts that came to be called the LA Riots.The LA Riots has many reasons on why this was a good event that happen in South Central La,and making it what it is today.This event is important because,even though many buildings were destroyed and not alot were re-built;that would be less stores or places were people can get alcohal & or drugs.The less of these things,maybe the less of violence taking place.
The three events that are important on making South Central what it is today are Crack Epidemic,Gang history,and La Riots.Crack Epidemic is an important event because is started the drug dealing going around here.Gang history has an impact on South Central La because because this is like the cause of gangs being created here in this area.With all these ganging going around,the more violence will occurred.The LA Riots had a huge impact on South Central on making it what it is today is because, after the riots not alot of things were re-built.This is an impact because lets say if there were still stores being re-built then that would mean that there would be more places people can get alcohal.As life goes on, i think the future of South Central LA would get a bit better.I say this because people would be able to learn form others or from other people.
